The saxophone is an instrument with a lot of personality. Perhaps because it produces a sound that is shockingly similar to the human voice or maybe because it has a wide range of dynamics, the saxophone gives way to emotional expression that not all instruments are able to create. Whether it’s a classical piece by a French composer or a jazz improvisation by a virtuoso musician, this instruments style is as versatile as its sound.
In today’s episode, we’re going to look at the saxophone’s role throughout music history, learn about the different components of the sax and listen to some examples of the more unusual types of saxophone.
